Accessibility and well-being in European Royal Residences

This event will take place in Autumn 2027. More information to come soon. The Venaria Reale (Consorzio Residenze Reali Saubaude) proposes to host a technical meeting dedicated to accessibility in European Royal Residences and to the growing recognition of the role that cultural sites and the cultural experiences developed within them play in promoting well-being, participation, and social inclusion. The discussion will focus on practices aimed not only at making spaces accessible, but also cultural activities and experiences, broadening the concept of accessibility beyond the physical dimension to include sensory, cognitive, and cultural aspects, with the aim of ensuring inclusive and meaningful experiences for diverse audiences. At the same time, the link between culture and well-being will be explored in depth, highlighting the cultural experiences adopted capable of activating psychological, biological, and social mechanisms that contribute to improving quality of life, fostering positive emotions, reducing stress, strengthening social relationships, and enhancing a sense of belonging. In a context where the well-being of individuals and communities is increasingly central to public policies, the cultural institutions are called upon to play a new and strategic role. In this framework, the proposed technical meeting aims to promote the exchange of good practices and strengthen cooperation among European Royal Residences, contributing to a shift in perspective: from places to visit to places to live.
