Mechanical Objects of Royal Residences

All pictures here and find the minutes here!

Clocks, music boxes, automatons, etc. are part of the collection of many European Royal Residences. Objects that are often fragile, delicate need permanent maintenance and special care to keep them in working order. When necessary, its restoration also involves special criteria, informed decisions and must be done by specialists. The mechanisms of the past require a thorough study and exhaustive survey which with the application of new technologies will allow its registration, a precious document for further intervention since many of the mechanical trades linked to these machines are currently disappearing. The purpose of this meeting is to talk about good practices in this area, discuss criteria and share experiences, namely on the application of new technologies to the restoration of these objects.
